The Internal Construction of P.T.

6. February, 2025

At Triple Seven, our goal is to provide riders with the best possible experience.

To offer deeper insights into our design philosophy, we are publishing a series of technical articles about the engineering behind the P.T. parawing.

The P.T. is the only product on the market featuring an advanced internal construction supported by diagonal ribs, spanwise straps, and mini-ribs—a combination that enhances both performance and stability.

Diagonal Ribs
To minimize the number of lines while maintaining structural integrity, we use a well-established technology commonly found in paragliders. When attachment points are spaced with cell gaps in between, diagonal ribs are essential for transferring support from the attachment points to the outermost sections of the wing. These ribs are carefully positioned and sized to ensure the right tension and geometry, providing stability across the entire canopy. This innovation not only reduces drag by minimizing lines but also enhances overall wing rigidity, improving both spanwise and chordwise stability. Just one of the many features that make the P.T. a pleasure to ride.

Spanwise Straps
Spanwise straps help maintain the P.T.’s aerodynamic profile by reinforcing the canopy’s tension across its span. By supporting the length between the cells, these straps ensure a precisely shaped airfoil, contributing to a more stable and responsive ride. This structural reinforcement results in a canopy that stands firmer and performs better than conventional designs lacking such features.

Mini-Ribs
A well-known feature in high-performance paragliders, mini-ribs make their debut in the parawing category with the P.T. The trailing edge is a critical area where airflow detaches from the profile, and a smoother, more refined edge significantly enhances aerodynamic efficiency. By integrating mini-ribs into the P.T., we have created a cleaner airflow separation, boosting both glide performance and handling precision—making it the best-performing parawing on the market.
We have also added additional support on the mini-ribs, which helps the wing open more efficiently when draining water. This structural enhancement increases the internal volume, allowing a larger amount of water to pass through our innovative (DS) drainage system. This feature ensures faster and more effective water evacuation, improving both safety and convenience during use.
